Robin Critchard: 2021 Ambassador

Three LP’s you’d recommend to someone getting into collecting?

The Beach Boys 'Pet Sounds' - most versions are suitable but the 50th anniversary EU release from 2016 is a great starting point with this.

Fleetwood Mac 'Rumours' - Especially if you can get the 2011 US release with the hype sticker showing 'Pressed at Pallas'.

The Beatles 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' - Lots of versions available but I would recommend the Special Edition, Stereo, ½ Speed Mastered, Gatefold from 2017.

    Your first album?

Pink Floyd 'Dark Side of the Moon' and proud to say, nearly 40 years on from when I purchased it as a 16 year old, I still have it.

    Your last album?

Had two arrive yesterday... Depeche Mode 'Songs of Faith and Devotion Live' (for which I'd been after a sensibly priced but VG+ or better copy for about 2 years and eventually found one for sale in Spain...) along with Pink Floyd 'The Later Years 1987 - 2019'

    Do you Play Any Instruments?

Air Guitar and air drums! LOL

If you could join any band for a day who would it be?

    Depeche Mode

What record are you most proud of in your collection?

Mobile Fidelity version of Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' which completed the 4 versions I considered having (those being the first LP I ever brought which was a 5th pressing, a first press with solid light blue prism, a 40th anniversary edition as my regular play copy and the MOFI release.) The recently acquired MOFI release of Dire Straits 'Brothers in Arms' comes a very, very close second mind.

What record in your collection are you most embarrassed by?

None - what is in my collection is there for a reason. Anything questionable I got rid of a couple of years ago in a bid to curate a collection that I would want to play anything from for many, many years to come.
