Having experimented with classical music in 1993, via his collaboration with The Brodsky Quartet on The Juliet Letters, Elvis Costello returned to rock the following year with a project that reunited him with the Attractions, Brutal Youth, released in March ’94, his first record with the group since 1986’s Blood and Chocolate.
Costello toured with the Attractions extensively between May and December, initially across Canada and the US, then throughout Europe and in September the band played several dates in Japan. Their show in Tokyo on September 22nd at the Kosei Nenkin Hall, was generally considered their best of the year and was recorded for live Radio Broadcast across the country, but has never before been released on CD. Featuring a plethora of cut from the new record alongside a host of Costello classics, this mid-period concert remains one of the finest concerts performed by Elvis and The Attractions during the 1990s, and is now available on this new 2CD set.
